Social Security Administration (SSA)
The Social Security Administration (SSA) can pay monthly benefits to workers who are
retired, disabled, or to their survivors. Eligibility is based on a person's age
or the presence of a total, permanent disability, and quarters of coverage
(how much they have worked and paid into Social Security). Supplemental Security
income (SSI) benefits can be paid to individuals who are totally disabled OR age
65 or older, AND who meet income and resource requirements. You do not need to
have paid into Social Security to be eligible for SSI benefits. Check out
the web site www.ssa.gov for additional information or questions.
